Can you repair my old sauna?
Yes. Buying a whole new heater is expensive and oftentimes, isn’t necessary. In many cases, the issue is a single burnt-out heating element, faulty control unit, wrong cable size or poor wiring. We can diagnose and repair any issue pertaining to your sauna heater which is usually much cheaper than buying a whole new heater.
How much power does a sauna use?
A typical home sauna heater ranges from 3.5kW to 9kW and more. This usually requires a dedicated 30, 40, or 50 Amp breaker at 240 Volts—similar to an electric stove or an EV charger. This means that we would have to run a whole new line from your electrical panel to your heater unit.
Do I need to upgrade my panel?
Not necessarily. While older Toronto homes with 100-Amp service often have limited capacity, a full service upgrade (to 200 Amps) might not be necessary.
We will perform a load calculation to determine whether your panel is running at “capacity”.
How long does it take to install a sauna?
It depends on the type of sauna, but for the electrical work specifically, we are usually done in 1 day.

Indoor Saunas (Close to Panel): 4–6 hours.
Outdoor Saunas (Trenching Required): 1–2 days.
Custom Builds: If you are building a sauna from scratch, we visit twice: once for the “rough-in” (wiring behind the walls) and once for the “finish” (connecting the heater) after the cedar is installed.
Total Timeline: From our first quote to your first steam, most simple residential projects are completed within a few days.
How much does a heater installation cost?
For most Toronto homes, a professional electrical installation typically ranges between $1,500 and $3,200.
Since every home is different, we usually prefer to do a “no-obligation” site visit. We take measurements, assess the scope of work and provide you with a quote.
With that said, here are some costs to consider:
The “Simple” Install ($1,500 – $2,000):
Scenario: You have an indoor sauna located close to your electrical panel (e.g., in the basement), and your panel has plenty of spare power.
Includes: Running the new 240V circuit, mounting the heater disconnect, standard ESA permit fees, and final connection.
The “Outdoor/Complex” Install ($2,200 – $3,500+):
Scenario: You have a backyard barrel sauna or bunkie that requires underground trenching, or your main panel is far away (e.g., panel is in the basement, sauna is on the 2nd floor).
Includes: Weatherproof outdoor wiring, trenching labor (or conduit work), and potentially a sub-panel if required.
Major Variables:
Panel Capacity: If your panel is full, adding a DCC Energy Manager (to avoid a service upgrade) typically adds $800–$1,200 to the project.
Trenching: If we need to dig through rocky soil or under a patio for an outdoor unit, labor costs will vary based on distance.
